England Under-19 coach Brian Eastwick is hoping his players can improve on their opening European Championship defeat.
A squad containing the likes of Scott Sinclair, Daniel Sturridge and Freddie Sears were beaten 2-0 by the Czech Republic on Monday, and Eastwick is looking for a better display in the second game against Italy on Thursday.
"We all know what happened in the second half yesterday was not good enough," he said.
"But I think we also know that performance was nothing like the levels we are capable of and we need to get somewhere near that on Thursday."
"We know Italy are a good side and in tournament football they are formidable opposition.
"But we must retain confidence in our own ability. Yes, we have lost one match but we still have two left and we need to believe we can win them.
"I am confident this team can do much better - now we have to do it."
