- Fitness boost for Wales

- NI duo set to return

The England squad are making final preparations for tomorrow's opening World Cup qualifier against Andorra. Rio Ferdinand's travelled with the squad to Barcelona, despite missing two days of training with a neck injury. Frank Lampard should be fit to start the match after shaking off a dead leg, while his Chelsea teammate Joe Cole is expected to recover from a calf strain.

Aston Villa's Gareth Barry's hoping to start the match after a difficult summer - he says he wants to put the breakdown of his proposed move to Liverpool behind him, and he's focused on England.

Ahead of Scotland's trip to Macedonia tomorrow, first choice keeper Craig Gordon admits the form of Rangers' Allan McGregor is putting him under huge pressure. The Sunderland stopper says it's a battle he hopes to win.

Wales have had a rare injury boost ahead of their opener at home to Azerbaijan. Striker Rob Earnshaw and midfield playmaker Jason Koumas are both available after picking up knocks.

And Northern Ireland have also had good news from the treatment room. Defender George McCartney and winger Keith Gillespie are both set to start tomorrow's match in Slovakia. With Kyle Lafferty sidelined Warren Feeney's likely to partner David Healy in attack.

After days of frenzied speculation Kevin Keegan has finally resigned as Newcastle boss. He says he had no choice but to leave, and that it had become impossible to find a way forward with the club's board.
